Surgical Lift

Surgical Lift

Protomatic working with  Mechanical Engineering Senior Students  ME450 class at the University of Michigan, has helped in the fabrication and development of a variety of custom medical products.

One application was to development of a Surgical Lift.   The  lift, to be used in the operating room, designed to help one surgeon, Dr. Karin Muraszko, of the University of Michigan’s Neurosurgery Department.  Dr. Muraszko needed to be brought up to the level of her patients during surgery, because she is 4’8” tall and was born  with Spina Bifida, which hinders her mobility.  Protomatic was involved with the project in guidance and fabrication  of the project.  Working with the designers Dayna Anderson, Patrick Davis, Leslie Savage and Monika Skowronska they developed the second generation design with a variety of design capabilities and constraints.
